Liam  Harney



Liam Harney, co-founder of APA, and star of Celticfusion, the exciting musical which he created and choreographed with Kevin Charles Patterson. Liam can also be seen in the national commercial for Folgers Coffee, which he choreographed. Liam starred in the London Production of "Riverdance". He also topped the bill in a tour of Ireland and Australia on the Irish government project "Great Famine Suite". This was followed by the highly acclaimed Broadway production of "Flight From the Hungry Land" at Lincoln Center with the Brooklyn Philharmonic.

Liam Harney is star of the new Irish Dance musical "WAVES", available on video from RTE (co-producers of "Riverdance"). This is one of the most exciting Irish Dance shows to hit the stage. The dramatic scenes and beautiful progressive Irish Dancing made this show unlike any other Irish Dance show ever produced at the time.

He is a two-time World Champion Irish Step Dancer. He received his first title in 1984 which was followed by another victory in the Arts Recognition and Talent Search "ARTS," which earned him a scholarship presented by president Ronald Reagan on the White House Lawns. In 1987, Liam again received the highly coveted award of World Champion Irish Step Dancer - a feat few American's of his generation had accomplishment.

Since then, Liam has performed for Holland America Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, industrials, and several television specials. His dance company credits include Dance Ellington; Pennsylvania Ballet; Carlisle Project; Jazz Unlimited Dance Co.; Trinity Dance Co; and Footworks.

Irish America Magazine named Liam one of the top 100 Irish Americans. Other recipients have included: Liam Neeson; Aiden Quinn; and Phil Donahue. Liam has also choreographed various productions including: "Blown Away", the MGM Motion Picture, Starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones; "Dancing at Lughnasa" Starring Michael Learned at the Old Globe. He has also starred and choreographed: "Those Wicked Feet", a documentary featuring Liam; "The Late Late Show", with Gay Burn (Ireland); "Breakfast Time", talk show on FX cable (New York, USA); "Great Famine Commemoration", a benefit concert starring Liam with original music by composer Charlie Lennon (RTE television, Ireland) "Donny and Marie" (Pilot).

Liam continues to thrill audiences in solo performances around the world: Radio City Music Hall, New York; Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles; Wolftrap, Washington D.C.; Filene Center, Maryland; Lincoln Center, New York; Kennedy Center, Washington D.C. In between major productions Mr. Harney manages to do special performances around the world which have included the White House for Presidents Reagan and Clinton. His Irish Step Dancing expertise; coupled with his extensive Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance training; have made him one of the most talented dancers of our time.
