Ricardo Peralta , much respected and loved instructor at APA, passed away in Honolulu. Ricardo Peralta was an actor, dancer, teacher, choreographer, visual artist and Artistic Director of Ricardo Peralta Danza Perfoma.
For over 20 years, he delighted audiences and colleagues all over the world. With his solo Mi blue Angel he performed in Mexico, Cuba and Africa, and the U.S., he was a guest of Highways, Sushi Performance & Visual Arts in San Diego and the National Queer Art Festival in San Francisco. Some of his awards included "Tommy" awards for performance and achievements in dance in 1999 and as the best male Modern and Ballet dancer in 1998. He received the "GLAAD" in 1996 for Excellence in Theatre Arts, the "Cultura" in 1998 for the best Dance Performance, and the1993 "OBELISCO" Dance Award in Baja California.
He began his dance career in Mexico in 1980 at the Taller Coreografico and the Compania Nacional de Danza. In San Diego he performed with McCaleb Dance, Ballet Society and the California Ballet, Isaac/McCaleb and Dancers, and the San Diego Ballet. Internationally, he danced with Taller Coreografico de Ecuador in South America, and Tranzprojekt as well as Isaacs & Dancers in Switzerland.
He performed in more than 50 national and international festivals in Mexico, Ecuador, Switzerland, U.S., Cuba and Africa. Before his passing, Ricardo taught at the Academy of Performing Arts, Centro Contemporaneo del Arte y Movimiento and Centro de Artes Escenicas del Noroeste.
