Suzanne Jackson

Suzanne began her training at Stage 7 with Lynda Yourth of the New York City Ballet under the direction of George Balanchine. She continued her studies with Ms. Yourth at American Ballet School and such teachers as Valentina Tseitlin of the Bolshoi and Clarissa Boeriu of the Romania State Ballet, Stephen Rockford of the New York Dance Theater and the Netherlands Dance Theater and many others. She trained in jazz, tap, modern, and character dance as well as ballet.
She became a member of American Ballet Ensemble at its inception. She danced with the San Diego Symphony with one of their series of young people's concerts, on TV by special invitation of Valentine Tseitlin; was one of the four little swans in Swan Lake, Valse Fantasy, Nutcracker and more. She performed in San Diego and Mexico for a 12 year span. She also danced with City Dances and Shawn Hughes Dancers as well as American Ballet Ensemble. She has been a teacher in San Diego since 1979 in such schools as American Ballet School, City Ballet, Scripps Performing Arts Center, Pacific Repertory Ballet and has been with San Diego School of Ballet since 1989. She is presently teaching with the Academy of Performing Arts.
Suzanne also served as a judge for four seasons for the National Dance Competition "Star Bound" and also served as one of their judges for the finals in all four seasons. She has also taught master Classes for Grossmont College.
Suzanne is also an award winning costume designer, making costumes from monsters to Tu Tu's. She has served as wardrobe mistress for American Ballet, San Diego Ballet, Scripps Performing Arts, Ballet Workshop, and for the past five seasons for Ballet Arte. She also has her own dance wear line of Knitwear and sewn. Being a dancer has helped to understand movement in costumes as well as construction, which makes for a better performance.
